SK Chilled Foods
SK Chilled Foods Limited are
based in Middlesbrough and provide pre-packed,
chilled foods to supermarket chains such as Asda,
Morrissons and Tesco. With 4 locations in Middlesbrough
and a requirement to centralise all IT services
in the Head Office, SK needed to find a solution
which would allow remote sites access without
compromising security.
NetPilot Enterprises are located
at two main sites with a NetPilot Plus
at a smaller remote site all connected to the
Internet with broadband connections. All three
are linked together to provide a secure
private network across which all sites
access centrally located servers. The NetPilot
Enterprise at Head Office scans all incoming
e-mails for virus infections then passed
them on to the corporate Microsoft Exchange Server.
Remote staff and home workers also use the Virtual
Private Network to access the corporate
network remotely to access e-mail
and other important information without compromising
the secure of the system.
Installed for over 2 years,
the NetPilots now form a key part of the corporate
network for this major food manufacturer.

John Blackburn
John Blackburn Limited are a
Leeds based printing and direct marketing business
providing services to some of the UK’s largest
banking institutions as well as other high street
names such as fast food outlets and shops. With
a site in Leeds containing over 100 PC’s
and a complex set-up of Microsoft based
servers, the company needed a way to secure the
SDSL connection to the Internet as well as scan
the vast number of e-mails received for
viruses before delivery to end users.
The NetPilot Enterprise has
fulfilled all the security requirments as well
as providing staff with the ability to access
their files and e-mail from any location with
the use of the VPN.
Customers are now able to get large image files
for printing directly onto the NetPilot via FTP
meaning that whilst maintaining a secure system,
John Blackburn are able to respond to
clients faster and make much better use
of their Internet connection.
